Participatory realism and metrology (parametr) is a multi-continental, cross-disciplinary project funded by the John Templeton Foundation that brings together philosophers, metrologists and quantum physicists to investigate how the foundations of quantum mechanics will impact certain basic assumptions underlying the scientific practices of metrology, as well as discover how recent philosophical developments in the epistemology of measurement might reshape our understanding of the quantum measurement problem.

We are a team of distinguished professors, postdoctoral researchers, and doctoral students hailing from Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Sweden, the UK, and the USA. Our research expertise covers three distinct fields: quantum metrology, phenomenology, and the epistemology of measurement.

Project activities include monthly online meetings, in-person visits between institutions to share ideas and collaborate, diverse theoretical and experimental research submitted to leading physics and philosophy journals, and an international conference (invite only) to be held at Dartmouth College in June 2024.

The project is led by Professor Christopher Fuchs and Research Assistant Professor Jacques Pienaar at the University of Massachusetts Boston, and by Professor Rüdiger Schack at Royal Holloway University of London.
